چکیده

We report on the development of a new family of superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID) current sensors based on sub-micron cross-type Josephson tunnel junctions. Their low total junction capacitance permits high usable voltage swings of more than 100 μV and exceptional low noise of the SQUIDs at 4.2 K. Integrated rf-filters as well as high tolerable background fields during cool-down of up to 9.6 mT enable their highly reliable and easy use. With input coil inductances ranging from 10 nH to 2.8 μH and current sensitivities and coupled energy resolution down to 65 fA Hz and below 10 h, respectively, they are a versatile tool for numerous applications.

Optimal SQUID based non-destructive test for detecting sub-surface defects with the help of advanced SQUID superconducting sensors and an experimental approach for optimal production method of these sensors from the YBCO superconductor materials

The conventional eddy current method for non-destructive inspection of welding joints has limitations that can examine defects to a certain depth below the surface of the sample and is not suitable for determining deep defects. This limitation can be overcome using the SQUID superconducting sensors. The nonstoichiometric composition of YBCO due to its superconducting temperature and desired cri...

Magnetic field behavior of YBCO step-edge Josephson junctions in rf-washer SQUIDs - Applied Superconductivity, IEEE Transactions on

Abstruct-The suppression of the critical current in YBCO Josephson junctions by the Earth's magnetic field strongly affects the operation of SQUIDs outside magnetic shielding. Commonly, one observes a modulation of the SQUID fluxvoltage transfer function amplitude, Vsq.pp, with a period of AB,, leading to an increased white flux noise level or unstable SQUID operation. Here, we report on the in...

Josephson Current For a Graphene Nanoribbon Using a Lattice Model

A tight binding approach based on the Bogoliubov-de Gennes approach has been used to calculate the DC Josephson current for a lattice model for S-GNR-S junctions , for short junctions with respect to superconducting coherence length. We calculate the phase, length, width and chemical potential dependence at the Josephson junction and discuss the similarities and differences with regard to the t...

Low-T, ramp-type Josephson junctions for SQUIDS

The Josephson tunnel junction is the basic element of a superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID). Amongst other parameters, the junction capacitance determines the characteristics of a (digital) SQUID. In a conventional dc SQUID, reducing the junction capacitance decreases the flux noise of the sensor, whereas in digital SQUIDs, the operating frequency can be increased when reducing ...
